WARNING: swearing ahead 
A piece I did for my uni Zine (christmas edition). It wasn't coloured for the zine so I desided to give it a go on here... not too keane with what i've done to it. I may have to come back to this and give it another go because this is kinda hideous.
This is really my 'fuck you' to people who are kinda scroogy at christmas. Particularly inspired by the course Im on at the moment...
Don't get me wrong theres alot of things I love about the course and also the people, but sometimes things such as having a circus themed dress-up for a christmas party!? People just care too much about being original and non-conformist... It's christmas, fuck off! I want to wear santa hats and paint my nose red!
"Ooooh gosh, but no Im an illustration/animation student, I'm expected to have a 4b pencil stuck up my arse at all times" NO!??!!?!
This is also a stab at the people who think bad of disney, because it's mainstream, factory-like...etc...
At the end of the day, Disney has been one of my biggest inspirations aswell as countless others! Ediotic people insult it just because it's not indie enough.
It gets my blood boiling....
The bird character is a kinda huge point at disney (as you can see from the style it is drawn) and the idea of being a child and not caring about originality and simply just taking it in and enjoying it.
I just feel that it is possible to be inspired by mainstream conformity and produce work in this manner, yet still keep a certain originality to it. Not that Im vain enough to say that's what Im doing, because I'm definatly not , but I am trying.

hahaha yes, and the idea that one can be a "non-conformist" is a fallacy altogether. Sounds like the people you hate are the I'm-so-origionally-indie-and-you're-uncool-because-you're-honest-about-what-you-like hipsters that denounce everything that is remotely popular just for the sake of being different and original, even if they secretly love what they're hating. If that is the case, I absolutely relate in your ranting. You should be able to do the things that bring you joy without bein condemned or labeled for it.
From your comments about the image it sounds like you're not too pleased with the outcome. However, I absolutely love the design elemts and appealing lineart that went into making this! The monochromatic color scheme makes me smile.
